I like the sims 3 slightly better because of the open world and gameplay. I never bought pets so I did not expirience the bugs and lag that everyone seems to be talking avout. Still, I miss the graphics and CAS from sims 4, and the content and funny interactions from sims 2. All three games are good in their own way, but as a family player and storyteller, 3 is my favorite.
