I have made 1 person Dynasties (and I kinda like it). For 2 reasons 1 I person families, and for outcast family members who ideals/skills differ so far from their families can forge their own.
Plus after marriage they would be invited into the established dynasty, dissolving the 1 person dynasty. Just make sure they invite the right Sim to the right dynasty!

Thank you for responding. That is a very interesting concept. I took my existing family who lived off planet for sixteen years. I wanted a far better reason to compel them to come home other than Uncle Joe died, you're his only heir, blah, blah, blah. So, the fact that the nephew knew he was a royal but lived his life as a commoner, free to make his own decisions (oh and by the way, he was the rightful heir at the time of his father's death) too bad Uncle Joe wanted more than to just be regent, right? Oh, well. Here I sit smack dab in the middle of this mess, if you will. I would have to totally disperse the exiting family to get back to t one person dynasty. I have at least decided to take the four royals and the one royal's girlfriend to uni to live in the dorm together, and no worries, the only Lady sibling will share a room with the girl in question.

I don't mean disperse the the existing dynasty, just add a new one(s) for the dynasty-less where you want to.
Example, when my Outcast left their Family Dynasty they made their on and they are just by themselves in their dynasty.
His corresponding Milestones for that:
Then I have just one guy (by himself in his own dynasty), he is basically my homeless guy, who I have sometimes live/float around with other households to do repairs, and provide fish.
