Children can take medicine, they just can't take them if they aren't sick. But if they are, just buy some medicine from the computer or put one in their inventory and they can take it. Or they can also take a nap.
I tried it and it didn't work for me.
Anyway my point was that mom sims should act like moms and they DON'T. Why isn't there a grandma's chicken soup recipe in the sims 4? Why can't they check for fevers or even ask a sim child how they are feeling? They don't ask about symptoms or anything. The animations for half this stuff already exists for doctors anyway so there is no excuse at this point. It's sheer neglect for family players.
Grandma's soup didn't go much farther than the name though (and came in the second to last EP). You could make it even if you weren't not sick. You could eat Grandma's soup at a YA party if you felt like it. None of the Sims game have been much in-depth in that regard. At least in TS4, parents can give medicine, they can make a hot cup of tea for the sick teens. And if they have writing skill, they can make an excuse letter for their children.
