Kids need to stop cleaning autonomously

Wellll.... I did after enough training. My mother taught me to make my bed when I was in like 1st grade, and I don't know how long it took to "stick" but I know by 2nd grade and thereafter I was doing it on my own. I make my bed every morning to this day. Lots of adults I know don't bother to do that. And seeing as how I live alone, if I never made it, no one would know. But I still make it every morning without fail.

I also learned to take the garbage out when it was full instead of expecting someone else to do it. And that the lawn had to be mowed no less often than every two weeks (and if I let it go, I would get yelled at, so I did it autonomously to pre-empt that).

I don't really mind if some kids autonomously do some chores, especially after good parenting. But it is rather silly to have a kid who just spun into child age from toddler, first thing she does is clean up the table without anyone ever teaching her to do that -- and she doesn't have the 'neat' or 'good' traits.

I'm more fed up with the over the top messes children make everywhere they go. And it's bad enough the parents cant say anything. It would be nice of there was a way the non active sims could intervene or at least my sims could tell the child to stop doing that.


So I don't mind them cleaning. Its semi realistic to me. My 5 year old likes helping me clean up he may not do it well but he likes to help lol his biggest responsibility is his room and if he makes spills he knows how to clean them up. He also knows how to out his dirty clothes in the laundry hamper. He's still learning though and my 2 year old is also picking things up trying to be like his big brother.

@MzPigglyPooh The parents (or caregivers) can discipline the kids making messes but you have to catch them in the act I think. If you go under the parenting interactions when clicking on the child - there is a discipline option -there are several choices - firm, calm, punish (I forget what they all are right now and not sure punish is available on toddlers, but the others are). If you catch them a couple times and discipline - they generally stop doing it. Does not help with other kids making messes, like in the park or something - about all you can do there is use a mean interaction to yell at them!

Even though it does get annoying when they make messes in Sims 4 - I personally find it more realistic for kids than cleaning all the time but I grew up playing in mud puddles and raised my daughter the same way. Making messes is much more fun and creative to me! My daughter ended up being quite the artist through all the paint and arts and crafts messes we made.

I also wish you could praise kids for doing bad things, like making a mess, farting or belching, swearing or being mean, so you can make an evil sim child :D >:) I think I was only able to do this with one of my sim parents who I cheated to already have all the negative traits from Parenthood. Why can you only praise kids for doing good things?

On a side note, one of my Sim kids right now keeps trolling teh forums even after being punished for it 3 times, at least that's more realistic.

So it's even trait respectively related (neat?). Talk about someone's saying: |Questionable Sims, Frustrating Stories" should be the new motto for TS4.

Definitely not trait related - had a child with the sob trait and she autonomously went outside in the freezing snow to mop a puddle under the snow! Sigh.
