This might be an unpopular opinion, but I’m personally glad that gameplay kits have seemingly been discontinued. I don’t want to pay $4.99 for what essentially amounts to a single “new” gameplay object as with “Bust the Dust.” I prefer gameplay that’s more fleshed out & I think that is best accomplished in a larger pack. For example, if “Bust the Dust” had been a stuff pack, instead of a kit, perhaps it could have included additional things like: functional a broom, dustpan, feather duster & mop for “off-the-grid” play, a cleaning skill, a new maid or housekeeper career, and/or a couple more household chores, etc. Finally, unlike kits, at least the larger packs, including stuff packs, eventually go on sale and/or they can be purchased in a bundle.
I'm mixed. I generally prefer in-depth gameplay over fluff, but sometimes I might be in the mood for fluff. Just to switch things up and give something for my sims to do. And I'd rather have some gameplay than none at all. Yeah, a Stuff Pack would have been better. Most gameplay would benefit from being the focus of a bigger pack, period. But there are so many things I don't see making it into a Stuff Pack as its own thing.
For what it was worth though, Bust the Dust wasn't horrible. Dust Bunnies are fun (but need to be fine-tuned), dust is easy to manage (and easy to cheat away if you feel lazy), and it came with 2 aspirations. It did fairly well, despite being so limited.
