Lack of resort management in Island Living is so disappointing.

They had the chance to let us make resorts just like in The Sims 3 expansion.

It feels like every The Sims 4 expansion is an inferior version of what we had in The Sims 3.

They added a lot of things that weren't in Island Paradise. I don't understand why people want the exact same expansion for every Sims game.. Who knows, we might get hotel management in a future pack.

For sure there are at least 1 or 2 really neat features that werent in Sims 3. I don't remember , but could you make mermaids in CAS in sims 3?

While I can understand the lack of hotels and house boats because the focus of the pack is on living on the island rather than vacationing on it, I am sad about the lack of sharks. That was one of my favorite things from Island Paradise, that and treasure hunting! A better variety of sailing boats would be nice too.

I LOVE the idea of adding hotel management in a winter vacation pack! Yes, yes, yes!!!

Well they added sharks to Get Famous ponds - so perhaps it was an issue that users would complain of using stuff from other packs. The way people complain around here over every little thing - can we blame them?

Nope you couldn’t I actually checked yesterday. Also conservationist totally new. Fishing and diving part time jobs are new. The volcano is new. The culture within the island is new and seems very in depth and well done. Also they don’t reveal everything at first so there may be more (not hotels) but buyable second property’s are very possible. Rental lots being possible everywhere could be a thing. We just don’t know. This pack seems to have a very different take on island life vs island paradise. I personally don’t want a carbon copy of a past sims game. I want different gameplay and things I can do. It be boring so quick otherwise.

The Elemental ancestors are new in this pack too.
  • I belive in TS1 we had winter vacation destination where sims could snowboard
  • Skiing - Not actually - there was a snowboard in Sims 1 and Sims 3 and other snow activity. I used to love using a metal detector in Sims 1 winter lodge and my sims would go out finding treasure with the machine buried in the snow. Kids could find little toys sometimes. But there was no skiing. In Sims 1 they had a ton of stuff to do though but it was not a huge place so that would be my guess why there wasn't skiing. Seems I recall some sims walking around with ski poles and snow shoes - but I don't recall our Sims being able to have them. They may have had them and I just never got to that - lol. Sims 1 version was real expensive for my Sims and their stays were very limited. Plus time moved so fast in that series it was hard to do everything.
  • Well since we haven't gotten the game yet, I'm not going to complain about it yet. I don't care that there are no hotels or resorts, I'm excited for everything this pack DOES have though.

there's no sharks? what the heck, how did they miss that?

    World Areas folder :

    Local island
    Natural island
    Resort island

I guess they changed their mind and planned to do it later

Well I have heard theories that Island Living was originally supposed to be a vacation game pack, but EA changed it to be an expansion instead. Probably because the fans buy everything they produce.

There are sharks near buoys sometimes and they can kill you.

Ok, I come from an Island and I'm really sick of seeing people thinking that islands are only holiday spots.
An island pack doesn't mean that they should add hotels.
I want hotels too but there are so many other ways to add it to the game so I don't understand why people are crying on this forum because they decided to not add it in Island Living.
Oh and it's Sims 4 Island Living not Sims 4 Tourism.

exactly! not to get too deep in social issues, but i welcome the change. hawaii and other islands that have its tourism has its own problems with mainlanders that im sure developers were aware of given they ignored the whole hotel system and instead opted for a conservation system instead (hawaii has been....dealing with a lot of trash....from mainland tourists.....not to mention the other social issues but yeah......).

yes! I tried explaining this to someone on twitter but it wasn't coming across nearly as nicely as y'all put it. I love that they've made this island living and not island paradise. This iteration may have it's drawbacks but they really are trying to showcase lots of different cultures and I applaud them for that.

Island Paradise in Sims 3 had both resorts and private residences. I used both features and it was fantastic. I tried sending one of my families to sims 4 island living just for the day and it really doesn't work, after a little while there, their toddler was sent to daycare.
As far as tourist trash goes, this is not reality, this is a game, lol, I am sorry for laughing but come on, lol, do I need to elaborate, lol.
