Latest patch, can no longer use additives in washing machine

First the washing machine was apparently full of laundry but my sim couldn't empty it. Replaced the washer and then found I couldn't get the option to add laundry additive.

What annoys me is that I didn't even want the latest patch, it has features I just don't want. I was putting Origin offline to play so that I wasn't forced to take it but lo and behold I had issues with my game that meant I had to reset it and it went right ahead and updated me. Is there any way to roll back maybe just the last two patches, I want to keep the game fix ones. I'm thinking if I reinstall it's just going to give me every single patch and that would be counter productive. All other Sims games had manual patches.
