- I do always enjoy his reviews, but he didnt go into all the main features as much as he used to do. Like he'd seprate the new features into categories very clearly and describe each one. Carl now gives more detailed reviews so I watch his for more informative videos, but I still watch LGRs because I like his reviews in general anyways.
- Hythiescrapdash5 years agoNew AceIn all the years I've watched LGR and it's more than I care to mention, don't think I've ever seen him enthuse about anything. It's part of his charm.
None of his Sims 3 reviews were anything less than condescending. So it's no surprise he's pretty lack lustre when it comes to Sims 4.
He's usually pretty much on the money too. - To be honest this is more of an overview of the pack than an actual review..Atleast that is what I felt.

Honestly, I thought the review was fine. Couldve gone into more detail about the simple living stuff but that's his prerogative. It's obvious the chicken stuff brought a lot of nostalgia for him and it was nice to hear him ramble on about it. He wasnt even that critical of the pack, just that it wasn't worth $40 price which is the general state of Sims 4's packs for years.
It sucks to see him so burdened by reviewing the series, cause I love his reviews, but I can understand/respect his stance. It's not like Maxis doesn't pop 1-2 EPs per year anyway.
In the meantime, I've drifted to Carl's channel as he and LGR seem to be some of the few folks that are genuinely critical of the game and one of the few game changers that arent blatant advertising machines (from my understanding). Im sure there are others, though.

Personally, I think LGR needs a new line of work.
His sims reviews is a such a small part of all the other content he makes though. Are you saying he needs a new career soley because he has a bias (like you said everyone has) when reviewing Sims 4?
No, i'm referring to the sims work. He needs to do something else, such as review something else he might enjoy more.... like maybe the other content he works with.
If he's burned out with the sims, he really should take a break. Do/review something else. "catloverplayer;c-17947731" wrote:

So don't watch? Carl has done so much for the Sims and the Sims community -- and is still maintaining the most comprehensive guide site the Sims has -- that his opinion carries a lot of weight. That he's disappointed in how little content is coming in Sims 4 packs and is willing to talk about it is a good thing. People want game changers to use their influence to try to change things and that's what he's doing. He's not walking away from the sims. His latest guide? He is really burned out. I watched his reviews b4 I purchased a pack, he is the one who actually got me to understand Get Together and then like it. I purchased that EP and have not regretted it. But it is 2021 and the last update really broke a limping game. It is not just time for a new sims game it is time for new people to lead the sims team - fresh blood and ideas.
Ok, I gotta watch a happy vid, he depressed me. ??♀️??♂️
Yeah I felt the same vibe and I can't blame him on it but he did not totally burn the pack. I like the pack myself but as he said why pay full price for the pack. I think I will eventually get it but at an cheaper price and I like Get together as those are the only two I can live with. - The-Muzickmage5 years agoSeasoned AceIf the price of packs go up much more we may have to start a Go-Fund-Me campaign.
I have all the packs except the last 2; Dream Home Decorator, and Cottage Living. The problem here is.... there are 2 of us who play the game, each with our own computers. So we have to buy each pack 2 times. We've made it this far with each of us only missing the last 2 packs but geeeesh. Not sure how much longer we can keep paying hundreds of dollars for watered down packs. It all adds up pretty quickly.
I agree with LGR on that point.... packs are overpriced. Here in Canada we are expected to pay (tax in) $35 for DHD, and just under $60 for Cottage Living. (with taxes included). So for each of us here to have the last 2 packs as well.... that'll be a price of about $190 CAD.
That's just nuts. Full game pricing for watered down packs. - bshag4lv5 years agoSeasoned Ace

Umm why did I watch it? He used to be funny and I get why he isn't into it anymore, but again why did I watch it?
You just convinced me not to watch it. ;)
My thoughts exactly. When LGR refused to lower himself to review JtB, that's when he lost me. I still love JtB, I know many, many who don't and that's okay. Since then it's been obvious that he no longer bring himself to review a Sims 4 pack anymore.
I have enjoyed his previous reviews but hey, when it's time to go...
He kind of reviewed JtB in this last review, though it was short. He referred to it as "Journey to a Disney Advertisement." I laughed out loud at that. I don't have JtB. It looks repetitive to me but there are some things in there that look decent. Like gambling. Can Sabacc be played outside of Batuu for simoleans?
I tried to put a Sabacc table down in a bar in OS but the only games it let me play was card games and the llama game. :#
