A legacy is just basically multiple generations of one family. There really aren't any guides outside of challenges. You can do whatever you want.
I'm just starting what I'm calling a Megacy (Mega Legacy) where I'm starting with 10 young adult sims (5 males, 5 females) in Willow Creek. My goal is to "discover" each world per generation. For example, generation 2 will "discover" Oasis Springs. I'm playing around with rotational play as well.
The idea isn't all my own, lots of credit goes to Pleasant Sims on YouTube. Although, I'm not doing an integrated economy or the strenuous rules she uses.
