Is there any kind of guide on how to do the Legacy play properly?

I tried to play a legacy once. I got the first generation of kids to have kids and then I abandoned it. Turns out I just like playing with cheats and no aging lol. But legacy challenges intrigue me and I love seeing other people’s legacies.
