Whatever you may personally feel about Sims 4, it and the series as a whole still makes enough money to keep it around. If it didn't, they wouldn't be putting it on consoles and mobile. And yeah, they need it for Origin too, lol. They've only got a handful of exclusives on there. I personally feel people are blowing this sort of thing way out of proportion, many of whom want/need to see themselves vindicated by S4's downfall.
Companies, especially for gaming, get restructured and rebalanaced all the time. And also, any budget cuts aren't reflective of any profits, as many of the profits go into other EA projects, not straight back at Maxis. While the little bit of news we have (Daniel leaving, mainly) is interesting, it's not all that new or surprising. Most of the stuff people are reacting to are rumors at best, from sources less than reliable, and proven so.
