Ok well I’m coming into this thread open minded but I’m confused about a lot of your points..
Firstly you completely misunderstand the term toxic masculinity. Nobody is trying to “erase masculinity”, just the harmful stereotypes enforced on men that hurt men as well as everyone else in society. There’s a reason male suicide is 80% higher than with women, it’s toxic masculinity..
Moving on, I never understand when people complain there isn’t enough mens CAS, in regards to making “masculine” sims.. there’s plenty of T-shirts, and Plaid shirts dressed over T-shirts, and jeans (which is what you said you wanted), do you own all the packs..? You want more of the same in basically? I could easily make 20 lumberjack variants as is, but each to their own..
There has been no real queer/gender bending menswear up until this point in TS4 (so what 7 years??) and so it’s refreshing they finally stepped outside the box in regards to the recent menswear kit, which is honestly what this thread seems to really be about. Certain people struggling with a man wearing a skirt, but each to their own culture or whatever..
The sims has made it quite clear they are targeting a younger audience, gen z are all about breaking the gender construct, and so it’s not really a surprise the sims made a pack aiming relevance at them, there’s no agenda other than making money. It’s business as usual.
What other masculine careers do you propose? There’s already “masculine” jobs (whatever that means?), civil engineer, cops, military, business, salaryperson etc all traditionally “mens jobs” and as for construction.. what career path is there in construction? You either run the site, or answer to the guy that runs it..? They can’t really build a 10level career path out of that..? In the real world men and women can both choose any career path, I don’t think it’s so wild of TS4 to reflect this..
The team has said multiple times they have been tight on animations as this lags up the game, which is the reason why a lot of the animations are the same for both male and female sims. Also why they are reluctant to add new hero items or animations full stop. No agenda, just practical/ lazy game design (you decide)..
As for body hair, obviously it’s missing.. but the sims always releases body hair with werewolves, and obviously werewolves haven’t made an appearance, my guess is they do want to add them at some point hence holding off on body hair. It’s something they can tie to the pack for people who don’t like occults. Again, money money.. Start demanding werewolves and I’m sure body hair will follow.
Side note, I wouldn’t call the states a cultural melting pot.. it was “founded” by colonisers and even today still has some of the worst racism problems going.. just saying ✌️
I understand what you're saying about the men's wear kit being targeted toward the gender bender. That's fine. In fact, I have not seen a single post in here saying that it is not.
I wonder if you have read any posts other than my original? I would hope you didn't just read mine and think everyone is going to be bashing the gender-bender culture. My post was meant to get the discussion started. It has gone well too.
I am not going to re-hash waht others have said so to answer your question about what we would like to see, I'd say read the posts because a lot of good suggestions have been made.
As for body hair and werewolves, I long for that day. I play on console and have never bought a pack before TS4 so was unaware that werewolves were ever added. Thank you for that information. I hope you are right about the body hair and that it's natural looking and not all werewolf looking.
