Although I'm pretty satisfied with both vampires and mermaids appearance wise I agree there is so much more they could have done. My biggest disappointment customization/appearance wise are aliens, they are pretty much just regular looking sims with different skin tones, eyes and clothing. I feel there is so much more they could have done with aliens instead of just giving us the typical "little green men" they have in the past. They could use the aliens from Mass Effect as inspiration especially considering EA owns both games so that could have happened. I want to see aliens with bigger heads, bigger eyes, different proportioned bodies, scales, one eye, multiple eyes, antennae, etc. I'd like to see different archetypes of the "greys" and "reptillians". As someone said before aliens can look like anything so you are free to unleash any amount of creativity for them.
As for vampires I'm pretty satisfied with the CAS options we got but as OP said most of it is for the face, I wouldn't mind if they gave us full on monster vampires such as Dracula from Van Helsing with wings, claws, and bat faces. I really can't wait to have werewolves because I'm pretty confident we will get so many different types and not the ugly ones from Sims 3.
