Military is a bit controversial in some quarters, especially countries that have had military take over the government. And we got the Astronaut job that was the top level of Military in Sims 3. I could see education and law being added in a University pack if it's on the drawing board (I think we didn't get Education until University Life in Sims 3) or an active day care for toddlers as part of a pack improving education at all levels. I'd actually like to see some sort of "self employment" feature for Sims that don't have a traditional job but make their living from freelance work (writing, painting, programming etc.) or those make items for sale or go out and find collectibles to sell. The sales tables and Art Wall from CL are still borked -- I'd like to have an adventurer who goes to Selvadorada, finds artifacts, then comes home and sells them at the Flea Market.
But the Sims series are simply games. Surely if you didn't want Military in your games, you would not play them..? We can't take everything put in a game for what it is. Plus, I thought Sims was trying to stray more to realism, and not including military is very unrealistic. This is just like saying we shouldn't have Burglars in TS4 because of people who had personal experiences with getting robbed would take it offensively.
??? Where is the logic here?
I know sims series has historically had a military career, but do sims actually need one. Has there ever been an armed conflict in the sims world? Perhaps sims got rid of of the whole military because they didn't need one. Having an astronaut career makes sense because they can actually go to space.
Because some players want to have more story-immersion? If someone wants to envision a military in their Sims game, than they should have the options presented for them in-game, without mods. Last time I checked, the Sims series was supposed to allow us a multitude of options and choices to play how we want. Nowadays it seems like we're only playing how EAxis wants us to play it.
I do kind of miss military career myself because of story telling. There are a lot of things sim doesn't allow that I would like to have. Like I posted, I think there are valid reasons why they could have dropped military (of course just guessing here and it could still make a come back).
