- Oh snap! I'm so excited about that CAS function with the stylist career. Being able to remodel townies on the fly without cheats is actually really cool and helpful.
ZOMG!!! So very excited about the return of terrain tools! :SQUEALS AND STOMPS FEET EXCITEDLY: - Jayel-17 years agoSeasoned AceReally excited about the terrain tool - although a colour wheel would have been nice to accompany it, but you can't have everything. And a new career is always good so you don't keep favouring the same career.
- simgirl5427 years agoSeasoned AceI liked being able to add my own pictures to the game and I miss it. Will that be added back too?
I think it would be neat to add your own pictures and be able to sketch them on the sketchpad. Having the ability to add something like pictures of mickey mouse, Winnie the pooh, or even the Incredibles available to sketch for toddler/kids clothes would be cute. - icemanfresh7 years agoLegend

TBH, during the stream, when the woman was giving fashion advice and brought out that pantone fan, I was half-expecting the color wheel to show up when CAS was loading. I know it's almost impossible at this point, but it looked like it was leading to it. A fashion career would've been a good tie-in to the return of CASt. Plus we've had unexpected surprises before. - paradiseplanet277 years agoSeasoned Ace

Military is a bit controversial in some quarters, especially countries that have had military take over the government. And we got the Astronaut job that was the top level of Military in Sims 3. I could see education and law being added in a University pack if it's on the drawing board (I think we didn't get Education until University Life in Sims 3) or an active day care for toddlers as part of a pack improving education at all levels. I'd actually like to see some sort of "self employment" feature for Sims that don't have a traditional job but make their living from freelance work (writing, painting, programming etc.) or those make items for sale or go out and find collectibles to sell. The sales tables and Art Wall from CL are still borked -- I'd like to have an adventurer who goes to Selvadorada, finds artifacts, then comes home and sells them at the Flea Market.
But the Sims series are simply games. Surely if you didn't want Military in your games, you would not play them..? We can't take everything put in a game for what it is. Plus, I thought Sims was trying to stray more to realism, and not including military is very unrealistic. This is just like saying we shouldn't have Burglars in TS4 because of people who had personal experiences with getting robbed would take it offensively.
??? Where is the logic here? - Jayel-17 years agoSeasoned Ace

I haven't looked at the stream yet but was interested in what you say. Totally agree. I'll hopefully get to see it tomorrow. - simsimsere7 years agoSeasoned Ace

I know sims series has historically had a military career, but do sims actually need one. Has there ever been an armed conflict in the sims world? Perhaps sims got rid of of the whole military because they didn't need one. Having an astronaut career makes sense because they can actually go to space. - Sigzy_297 years agoLegend

My overall opinion:
I think it's too early to say whether it's good or bad, cause I am not sure if this tease holds more than what we can say for sure. If cars will make it, I think its pretty good and cool of them. I know foundations are something people wanted for so long, so I'm happy for them even though I won't use it like a maniac. Its nice to have for me and I appreciate it being added. Maybe later on i will be more happy with it.
The career.. Ok.. It's nice they added a career that is normal and probably useful for many sims. i would probably use it too. I do wish they would add in more careers. I get this one is for free, but they could have added careers through packs as well. They are needed. We asked for a lawyer career for so long and it should be here already. I do like the active careers. it's all I want to play most of the time. i also think the option to work at home, play active or just send your sims off to work, is very good and should always be like this in any sims game!
However.. they did use many of the same animations again, meaningless interactions. Maybe there is more to it, cause they didn't show us all, so we will have to see for a complete opinion. But from what i could see, they could add in some more meaning to this career by actually drawing fashion sketches instead of paintings (of a horse..). Let's see more about it when we get it and get to play with it.
Just holding my hope for cars and Sims 2 style with animations and in-car options.
Careers like lawyer, education, etc. could be waiting for a University pack to be added. We got an actual gardener career in Seasons and before that we got the three CL careers. so they are adding careers in EPs when they make sense. Someone mentioned there's a new art type, Illustrative, so maybe that's the one needed for the fashion career.
True, we got new careers, but they could have added new careers in the early time of the sims 4 when it was even more needed. The requests for basic careers are on the forum so long and we actually still do not have them. They might come, but my point was that they should have been here earlier actually.
They actually patched in two careers (Athlete and Business) a couple of months after the base game released. I'm still trying to figure out what people mean by "basic" careers -- IMO the only two "out there" base game careers are Astronaut and Secret Agent.
I wish we had military, teacher, day care, law, etc. I also wish they'd have the slacker career back but that's because it was a fun thing in TS1 and TS2, like the grilled cheese aspiration which they did patch in TS4.

Oh because that makes so much sense.... It's not like any previous games have had military careers. I don't buy those excuses. - anthonydyer7 years agoSeasoned AceWhere do the developers get the inspiration for in-game objects? Do they create virtual versions of the items in their home? It's funny how all the gurus are wearing similar clothing to the sims. Also if you read many of the build/buy object descriptions, they are pretty funny.

I agree. Also, many times members of the military do peacekeeping and disaster recovery.
