I'm more excited for this then I thought I'd be. From what we saw in maxis monthly I thought it would somewhat basic tools but it seems like they are really looking into making it very advanced and easy to use.
It's a shame we can't do true multilevel builds but honestly we could never do that. I know many players will say you could in ts4 but the reality is no you couldn't you could cheat to make a floor level small enough to give the illusion of multilevel houses but you actually gave up an entire floor level to do so. I want multilevel where two rooms of the same level can connect and be different heights. Not only that but it was so much work just to change the floor levels. If it takes them longer to give true multilevel homes and make it easy to use then I'm all for the wait.
As for not being able to paint the terrain of ground that has been elevated enough that the "stone" underneath becomes exposed I don't think we could even do that in ts3. I think I even remember seeing it glitch out and prevent me from painting it even after smoothing out the ground as the stone just remained exposed.
