I am dyslexic, it is something I've struggled with my whole life. I've had a lot of issues words that sound alike, or spelled alike, and stuff like that. I also have a difficult time When hearing people speak in other languages, Identifying the correct language that they're speaking. To my ears Russian and German & several other languages sound exactly the same. Which I know logically they can't be, and have been made fun of frequently. I'm as bad with differentiating accents as well.
I would love to be able to get Not even fluent but just Like Spanglish level with any sort of language. And be able to identify Correctly Accents from other countries More than once in 40 tries, I'd be happy with 1 in ten.
I dreamed of being an author when I was younger because I have so many stories and characters that I get really in depth with from my imagination. With my dyslexia I have run into a number of stumbling blocks with trying to write.
Or being able buy a new car/ truck. Never had one younger than 10 years old.
With speech to text so popular, why not give that a try? You can dictate to it what you want it to say and then have it read back to you. Just an idea.
I have worked with a lot of students with dyslexia, teaching them to read. I feel for my students who somehow were not caught at a younger age, as there are many great teaching programs to help students like you. And its so hard watching you struggle NOW, when if someone had just been paying a little more attention, we could have help you MUCH sooner. And you would not be having these problems.

Funny enough with about 6 months to graduation I had a sub that noticed how I turned my books sideways or upside down. They held after to talk and asked me several questions. They had a sibling who was dyslexic & did what they could to help me. I really wish I hadn't had to struggle and learn things on my own. Teachers have my respect. I had wanted to be one, but was told with my dyslexia IF I made it through no one would hire me.
I went into child care and disabled adults for a time. The amount of paperwork through... Lol
I have tried a bunch of voice to text but you have to keep an eye on it because so far many autocorrect you and if I don't fix as I go I tend to not be able to figure out what I wanted to say. Texting gets me a lot. I also think I ramble.
Studying writing English more is on my list.
Thank you for being a teacher, and especially one that cares!
