Life and Death Expansion question

I was thinking of buying this because I really like a lot of the Build Buy and CAS stuff that comes with this pack, but I'm not at all interested in the gameplay aspect of it.  I wanted to know, for those who have this pack, how invasive or immersive is this pack?  Is it like Vampires and Werewolves where once in a while I'll see one but I can choose not to interact, so I can pretty much ignore the packs.   Or am I going to be seeing ghosts and Grim everywhere.  Specifically I wanted to know if there was a way to turn off the Bucket List feature, or have the aspiration above the bucket list in the UI.   Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Life & Death also adds grief, which can occur after deaths, relationship ends or career lay offs. I like this feature a lot because it makes the bad events more realistic, but it would for sure change your gameplay. I'm not sure if there are any pack settings to turn it off.

  • The ghost/grim and other features aren't invasive. I mainly got it for the build/buy and the world as well. The only thing I find slightly annoying is the pose macabre sims get in the relationship tab but I can overlook it. I haven't gone out of  my way to do any of the souls journey for my sim but I found out she's already half-way done with it. Just from doing normal activities with her.

It is automatic, but doesn't auto-fill often, unfortunately. You can use computers or journals to add entries 3 ways:

    Write Goal (completely random)
Write Goal from Category (random from category)
Write Perfect Goal (choose exact goal, not always available)

You can also purge (empty) the list at any time and start over, and you keep any Souls Journey progress already earned.

Is the bucket list thing automatic?  Or do you have to interact with something to get it started?

  • I think you will be safe. I love the pack and I havwe no plans of focusing on the soul features or playing grim. I tried the bucket list once, but my sim was then sugested to max a skill that she was totally not interested in, as her first goal, so I just ignored it after that (I might have chosen something not so smart when checking the feature). I don't see ghosts in other worlds than Ravenwood. Well, in one case a Ravenwood ghost started to show up in a house in a different world, at night, but it's easy to just click "just go away". Streets are not flooded with ghosts like they can be in Ravenwood. And I never saw Grim either. The world is great, at least it triggered lots of story telling on my part. I like the funeral/memorial feature.

I have the pack. Of all the things, my favourite is actually the bucket list. I don’t see grims anywhere unless I work the career then there is a bunch grim interns wearing grim outfit, but they have a face. Besides the new career or new world I don’t see them anywhere personally. When you go to the new world the pack comes with you will see a bunch of ghosts flying around (not sims) but actually cute ghosts 👻. You can choose to interact with them or not. You can kinda turn off the bucket list…. You can scrap the bucket list whenever you get some tasks. But I don’t think there is a way to actually turn it off. I like the bucket list cuz I can customize my own, if I don’t like one task I can remove it and try another. When you complete all of them you get a trait called burning soul. So when my sim becomes a ghost I can get reborn. I never tried it but I will try it with my current gen challenge. But my sim has created a ring with a feature that she will not die if this ring is fully charged and worn by her . So I mean I guess I won’t find out with this sim. Lol. TBH, I really dont play much with this pack. The new career is so repetitive that I didn’t want to continue.
