Which lifespan do you typically play on?

Depends on what kind of save it is. If it's a story save (a save where I play out a story like my current story) then I turn aging off (and turn off story progression while also pausing pregnancies using MCCC as well), since I don't want unwelcome aging or babies (that aren't the active household) in my save, especially for the main characters! I might turn it on for the townies but it depends if they're important characters in the story as well.
If it's a regular rotational save (like my first ever save where I got b/g twins on the first pregnancy) then I set it to long with everyone aging. Whenever I switch to another household I cheat up the skills to however long I think they must have been working on it since the timespan I wasn't playing them, haha, so those days won't technically be lost. I turn on aging while pregnant and turn off story progression for active and played sims. I also make them twelve days long (as three days is too short for long lifespans, honestly)
If it's a challenge save (saves where I play challenges out like my 100 baby challenge) then I set it to whatever the challenge rules say (or my rules >:) ). I turn off aging while pregnant and story progression if the rules say so as well.
