Which lifespan do you typically play on?

I suppose the way I play, it could be considered a mixture. I have this tendency to age up my Sims when I am ready for them to age, which is sometimes earlier than they would age up. For instance, I wanted to send the four teens in my family off to Uni, but I chose to age them up a day or two apart to keep their birth order in place.
