I don't think it adds to much more to the gameplay but it is a nice feature, and seems sims realise more when they're with their best friends, enemies etc.
i think you're thinking of Sentiments:) "Lifestyles are a game mechanic introduced in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape. It consists of a series of traits that can be acquired by Sims by performing or not performing certain activities. These traits in turn influence Sims' behavior and emotions as they interact with their environment." - https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Lifestyle
Lifestyles were still implemented poorly though. My adventurous sim should not still be bored with a skill after having disabled Lifestyles, but they are."sunman502;c-17760039" wrote:

sounds like a bug that EA needs to address- it's not uncommon for new bugs to be found after release you know. I could give you some tips on trying to fix it, in the meantime, if you'd like..?- DaWaterRat5 years agoNew Vanguard

I think that's a "feature" of the Adventurous Trait, not Lifestyles. My adventurous sim gets it for any skill she's maxed or nearly maxed. "DaWaterRat;c-17760348" wrote:

I believe that this is where the confusion sets in. There is an adventurous trait, that's true. But there's also a lifestyle attached to that, and it's for thrill seeking sims. Sims who are not afraid to live life on the edge. These sims enjoy activities such as rock climbing, snow skiing and boarding. Any activity that they know that they can get hurt by doing. And this is where my adventurous sim is getting bored. Because they had this thrill seeking lifestyle when I still had lifestyles active. Either way it is like MothmanMerlin, a bug. Another reason why I say this because my sims over the years have maxed every skill that has come along in the game. And none of them has ever gotten bored with a skill until now. Feature? I don't believe so. Like MothmanMerlin, I too think that it's a bug. And MothmanMerlin is correct, it's not uncommon for new bugs to suddenly appear right out of the blue like that.- DaWaterRat5 years agoNew Vanguard

Look, I'm just trying to help you narrow this down. Because if it is part of the Adventurous trait, rather than connected to the Thrill Seeking lifestyle, and it's an intended part of that trait - and based on the moodlet text, I believe it is - then they're at best only going to adjust tuning rather than "fix" something that isn't really broken.
My Adventurous Sim was getting the "Bored with this" moodlet with the gray paddle ball before she developed the Thrill Seeking Lifestyle, any time she was doing something on a skill she had already mastered.
After she got the Thrill Seeker Lifestyle, there was a second, different Bored moodlet with a face kinda sighing and text that talked about looking for adventure.
And as the Adventurous Trait came with Snowy Escape, your sims couldn't have gotten bored from them before you got Snowy Escape. The trait that caused said boredom didn't exist yet. "DaWaterRat;c-17761096" wrote:

I know that you are trying to help. Having each other's backs and helping each other out with an issue with the game is what makes this community one of the best gaming communities in the world. In fact one of the EA forum managers has praised us for this very reason on another topic.
As for the adventurous trait goes, that's right it wasn't added until SE. Which is why I had said that none of my other sims had this issue before.- simsimsere5 years agoNew VanguardI said I would turn them off when I get the pack, but I was too curious. My sim leading a pretty lonely life on windenburg island with his dog started developing people's person lifestyle. He has some friends yeah but feeling really meh about it. Then my other family went on a holiday and the mother came back with outdoorsy, energetic and adrenaline seeker lifestyles. I only want her to have energetic so trying to get rid of the rest. I also managed to get outdoorsy for the teen which I wanted. Lifestyles haven't really gotten on my nerves yet, need to test them more.
- So far, one of my sims is 'in progress' for two lifestyles and they perfectly fit her personality. As long as your sim is performing actions that reflect the character you want them to have, they are a great addition!
One of my other sims also started to gain 'people person' which is totally unlike her so I am now going to have her socialise way less. I guess they can be a bit of a wake up call as a player :D - susanleona5 years agoNew ScoutMy sim was on track to getting Sedentary lifestyle, so I made him go swimming and pouf it was gone. So you can see them in progress and change behaviour if you don't want to have this lifestyle permanently.
- GalacticGal5 years agoSeasoned AceIt's been interesting. My Global Superstar earned the People Person, and so has his wife, her twin sister and his younger brother (all living in the same household.) But then, he earned a most dreaded lifestyle. Workaholic. This upset me. Yes, he's running around like a chicken with his head cut off, but he has to do certain things to retain his fame. He's a Rock Star, so that means concerts, photoshoots, and cutting CDs. (I use a mod for this.) I also had him join the Entertainer Career for a shot at getting his long-overdue Starlite Accolade, which he did. Once he reached the top of that career, earning some very good pay, that had him working W-Sat from 2 pm to 9 pm. The other days he would work on albums, but since he gets invitations to perform concerts and attend photoshoots, daily, he sometimes is forced to fulfill these even after a full day's work. I wanted him out of the Workaholic lifestyle as he was stressing out major league. Plus, his children were starting to get cranky over not seeing him so much. He's got four kids! Since I play with the Slice of Life mod, too, his wife just informed him he was boring and she wanted them to try an open marriage. :open_mouth: Now, that doesn't mean much, but it was startling to me, nonetheless. I can act on it or not. I won't.
But I did have him quit the Entertainment Career. Then something very, very strange occurred. The Sim lost his ability to sing! I mean, he sounded wretched. Another player suggested I cheat his singing ability back to 0 or at least 1 and then cheat him back up again. This did not work. When I had him a level 8, he sounded a shade different, but the Sim couldn't even find the tune, let alone carry it in a bucket. I eventually rolled back to an earlier save when he could sing. I did a Save As, checked his singing ability, then had him quit the Entertainer Career, then checked his singing. All was well. So, I went back to the save I renamed and had him quit. All is well. My analysis is that the most recent save had been corrupted. It's really weird, as I copied my saves folder prior to refreshing my game folder. Yet, that save (the most recent one) was missing from the saves file. I took the one from the copied saves file, instead. Not sure what to think about that.
