Lights

No matter how many lights I install and turn on max brightness it just doesn't seem to be bright enough. Anyone else experience this? Those floor/wall lights don't really help. I hate overhead lights because I always click on them and they don't go away at the distance from which I play. Wall lights don't reach far enough and I end up putting up ceiling lights anyway. Any tips on lights?

The Subtle Saucer light is my fave for non glaring brightness. It is an overhead type, but you can now minimize it to make it quite tiny without affecting the brightness, and I find it hardly gets in the way at all.

What an awesome tip, thank you! I usually avoid ceiling lights altogether because I cannot stand to see them hanging around, I had completely forgotten about that cheat. I know what I shall be trying next time I load up my game!
  • I try to use more expensive lights, which seems to help. And with taller walls, I place the lights close to the walls.
  • Most ceiling lights are pretty good but there are couple that are terrible. So just test them out before you place it in the house.
  • There’s a particular one that lights up really well also there’s a mod that helps with lighting
  • I use lumialoversims NoBlu lighting mod, it really helps the appearance of my game.

I haven't had any lighting problems since they improved the lighting system a long time ago.

If you use mods you should use one of brntwaffles lighting mod in combination to lumialoversims lighting mod as well.
  • I think it's called the beemer...That is the light I use love it 2 of them can light up even the biggest of rooms.

I tend to use bb.showhiddenobjects cheat and go look for the square and circle lights and place a load of them on the lot. Best thing is when you play the sims, those lights disappear!

Yeah. Those particular lights. I have them in my community center and ALL Sims that walk where they are become white. When I look at them its like I am watching white 2-d cardboard Sims walking through. I thought first I was having a fault in my video card or a faulty texture but then they appeared again after walking past the lights or into rooms not having those lights. I am going to have to take them out and use ordinary lights.

They illuminate very well though and normally. The rooms and hallways are not washed-out white or any of the furnitures/objects in said rooms and hallways.
