The way they did the weather is so ODD for each world. I modded Willow Creek and several others to more match the climate they are in. Willow Creek is based off of louisiana and yet their seasons didn't match that at all. I'm glad though that I know the files now to alter to change it. So I've been experimenting with my own changes to the worlds to see what I like best. I changed San Myshuno to more match New york (which to me is where it'd be located irl).
I don't ger Loisiana really. More higher up the Mississippi. Old buildings yes. River yes. Cajun climate and swamps and alligators? No. That said fewer winter days might suit the place. It seems to be more "Just south of St Louis" to me. Which means hugely weird winters (one day -5 Centigrade, next day +20 and shorts).
I've kind of wondered about that - my impression of Willow Creek is that it would fit somewhere in the east-central mid-latitudes. Magnolia Promenade seems more like Louisiana.
Shrug. That's what devs said when ts4 came out. It was based off of mostly New Orleans and in particular that portion of the south of the US. It should be much hotter given that.- Beardedgeek727 years agoSeasoned Ace

Well in that case yeah. Like no snow whatsoever. - When the game first came out the devs said Willow Creek WAS based on Louisiana - just out side the French Quarter. The trolley, the roads, the Maxis made buildings from some shogun housing to the plantation looking stately old mansions and backdrops, the trees that area if known for from Huge Willow, dogwood, Mimosa etc strung with mosses and such. never mind the jazz related signs etc on clubs. Granted Maxis was light on those for sure - never mind no sax and trumpet players but they did say it was LOOSELY based.
Louisiana is not just swamps and alligators - in fact, far from it unless you purposely go to the Bayou.
I believe they said Willow Creek was based on Baton Rouge/and New Orleans - which it does resemble very, very much.

Precisely. As one born in Florida attended boarding School in Miami and who visited Louisiana relatives now and then - I can tell you first hand their weather is very much the same. Definitely no snow and it even reaches 32 degrees F in either state - people panic - it'd kill plant and animals. Farmers there will put out heat pots just to keep any frost off all the plants - in a panic. Sure there have been freaky weather systems that has seriously threatened Florida crops and Citrus and wild life over it's history - but believe me it is not standard weather. My first 14 years of life - I never once wore more than a sweater or windbreaker in Florida or in Louisiana and that was only between mid December - mid January. The cold there never feels all that cold - too humid. Snow would melt on contact - technically if there was any.
It has happened though but is very rare.
The Sims wiki does say it is designed on New Orleans and Magnolia Promenade is part of Willow Creek. I just realized seeing that - the hospital is the Willow Creek Hospital. LOL.
This is what the wiki says of Oasis Springs - Oasis Springs - It is set in the middle of an arid desert, and has the look of suburban Phoenix, Arizona.- The Wiki says it's Tokyo, New York City, and San Francisco. With that mix - it is hard to say but I would think Blizzards would be very rare. It does get all 4 Seasons in game - but Blizzards do seem rare. But it snows.

I swore they also mixed in Seattle in there too? I always thought the inspiration from SM only came from Pacific Coast cities, which only the gurus would be most familiar with lol.
