You can't, and it's only useless to you. We can't be a librarian, gym trainer, pizza delivery or other NPC's either. And it's not a big deal. What would be fun about being a landlord anyway?
I would actually love it if we could be landlords, own apartments and rentals. Not everyone plays the same way. :)
That being said, as long as I can create apartment buildings and renovate them somehow, I'll be ok without the landlord option. I do hope it makes it into the game at some point along with multiuse lots. Would LOVE to have an apartment complex with a cafe or shop on the bottom floor opening out onto the sidewalk.
