I'm not sure if you would call this a random event or not, but I would for sure call it unexpected. In one of my games saves, I had a couple who weren't married very long, but long enough to be expecting their first child before he died. After the baby was born and after she became a toddler, on her birthday I got a pop up from the dad, telling his daughter to be expecting something in the mail in the next few days. He sent her a toy for her birthday, even though he was buried in the back yard.
i guess this came with parenthood but him giving toys from grave is totally a bug lol
