I notice this a lot in conversations, not only between romantically involved sims. Can't remember if it ever canceled, though.
I can pick questions for my sim to ask, like "what's your job?", "How's your day going?", "Are you single?" and so on. I'm guessing its something along those lines? And pretty much any guess is a valid one?
