Anyone who knows what the tablet like thingy in my inventory is? It appeared together with the key and the potion.
Hoovering over it, says nothing. - GalacticGal1 month agoLegend
I finally sorted out how to get into the Event. I was even able to get started. I have earned three items, thus far, but I have run into a huge snag. I have to send my Sim over to Willow Creek to the Library but traveling and saving the game can't be done, as the message says the game is loading? All of the pertinent icons are grayed out, too, I should note. This has never happened in my game before.
I simply do not need to be trapped in a RL version of Groundhog's Day, having to repeat the first few goals. Please help! Is there a way to make this stop? I am now afraid to touch my actual game save for fear I'll run into something similar. Is the fix as simply regenerating a new game folder?
Please, and thank you, in advance.

And ... note that there are actually TWO icons top left. One for the event and another for each quest. I only saw the biggest one first and was stuck like you. Also, this 1st week has 2 quests. After completing the first one you might need to run in live mode until the 2nd quest icon appears. In my case it took a couple sim hrs.

When you load your save, there should be an icon at the top left of your screen. When you press that, the event will start and there will be instructions for tasks that you need to complete in the top left corner. You don’t need to download a special household to do the event. You can do it with your own sims, and the Royal Envoy will come to visit your home.

How do you play this one ?
I logged in and got the table, but now it tells me I have to play the first quest, but it does not say what I have to do ?
Is there a special family I have to download to play this one, or how does it work ?

Gavin really doesn’t trust the Royal Envoy! 🙂It is great reading your way of how Gavin is approaching the tasks of the event and his thoughts behind what he does and his reactions to what he finds. I have enjoyed reading how he went with this week’s task, and hope that his next week of doing the event helps him to discover more things too.
spammy, spammy, third post today (but last for this week, no worries)
The next day Gavin sought out the Royal Envoy at the library. She seemed genuinely surprised that he was here, too, and quickly left, leaving the investigator with a reminder:
"Remember, if you find any clues as to the heirlooms whereabouts, don't tell anybody but me! The principality wishes to avoid embarassment and drawing mass attention."
"Now that was more fishy than Tina's bucket contains every morning", Gavin murmured to himself, referring to Jin's mother, an avid fisher.
Reasoning that the envoy had not expected Gavin so soon, and that she hadn't wanted him to see what exactly she had been doing, Gavin sat down at the same computer station she had sat when he had entered. Unfortunately the envoy had already logged out.
"Mhm, this is a local library. As a foreign diplomat, she probably has neither a membership card nor an online account. Login Name: Guest. Password..."
Gavin looked around and found a post-it note that said "The PW for guest logins is 12345". Thirty seconds later he could see the guest account's search history sorted by date. Strangely enough the last user - aka the envoy - hadn't researched Principality or Darong family details, but the history of this exact building.
"We've just upgraded this person's fishy-level from Tina's morning bucket to a full weekend trip to Moonwood Mill!" Gavin muttered.
And then he noticed that Poe and Finn had been looking over his shoulder with unveiled interest the whole time...
The next event task was "Ask about Darong family". While thinking which of my townies might be knowledgeable about that topic, I noticed how enthusiastic Poe was about the treasure hunting, so I picked him.
Poe: "i don't know much about that family, but the Envoy talked about them and about art."
Gavin: "To you? Or to herself?"
Poe: "To the library staff, man!"
Finn: "Come! We can show you the bookcases they pointed her to."
The envoy not having a library card turned out a boon! Gavin was able to browse each and every book she had looked into, nothing was missing.
He learned that the Darong family had been almost obsessed with restoring a certain painting and rumors about a "treasure" hidden in this building. But did "treasure" really refer to the painting?
Gavin decided to take two of the books home to study them more thoroughly and get the opinions of his friends. When he grabbed the first, he felt a bump in the spine and when he ran his finger across it, a silvery key slid out. He pocketed it, then carried the books to checkout as to not draw attention.

Gavin and the Royal Envoy didn’t have a good first meeting with each other! 🙂It also wasn’t very good with Argus and the toast and butter! Jinny is very sweet ❤️
That Argus over the butter and toast, Great pic 😍
The next morning the envoy's presence in Detroit was in the news, indeed, but no word about the visit's purpose was said.
"Oh my god, Argus!!!"
"Can't you at least steal the butter from the other direction? You know, the one where you wouldn't have to climb and shed hair all over the toast?!"
The envoy had told Gavin to meet her at the library the next day. Until then he should familiarize himself with creating art - the envoy had even left an easel to use for that purpose. Since he had bread to put on the table and couldn't waste time slinging paint on canvas, Gavin made sure to record the process for his followers.
"Look, Jinny, your dad's the new Darren Dreamer now! What should I paint?"
"Princess Cordy ship-wrecked!!! Wida pirates!"
Gavin: "So, what feelings does this evoke in you?"
Daniel: "Oh, my... Um, er... The vulnurability of the, er, soul? It's touching!"
Gavin: "Great!"
Daniel: You used to be a detective and profiler yet can't even draw a phantom potrait?!
That day Daniel found a key in the mail - apparently the reward for the completed painting and apprecciation of Gavin having taken the first steps in understanding the spirit of the art-fancying Darong family.
Daniel placed the key and the letter on his boyfriend's workstation for him to find later.
But truth was, Gavin's painting had also made him want to beat someone up and when one of Daniel's kin felt an emotion, they fully gave themselves over to it.
(I got a "Neighborhood brawl day". The second to last screenshot already spoilers what Daniel is. He's doing this idle a lot.)
