The real world's seasons are silly things. With the Sims I think of the more idealised seasons of Stardew Valley. Winter ends as the new year starts.
Valentine's Day is technically in winter, but I've neve thought of it as a winter celebration, just as I've never thought of carnaval or Pancake Day as winter feasts. They're prologues to spring.
