I get what he was saying and it is true Sims 4 will never win in comparison due to its lack of tools. Sorry it has to come down to what is better than another version but everything is coming to an head and is it going to get better? Maybe and maybe not.
Yeap. Ultimately we'll have to agree The Sims 3 is objectively a better game. Is it perfect? Far from it. Is The Sims 4 without redeeming qualities? Not at all. But when it comes down to the tools each game provides, the depth of content, the complexity of AI, etc. The Sims 3 reigns supreme.
Ultimately, I disagree. There is no objectivity here.
Sorry, but you took two things, attempted to compare them with a skewed bias by brushing aside key points and factual information, and then you try to push a conclusion that everyone will "ultimately" agree that Sims 3 is "objectively" a better game because of this one small, skewed comparison? Come on, now. You might have been able to make a debatable point if you were able to present this fairly. But you clearly didn't.
You are trying to compare these two worlds singularly (apples and earrings, lol) by their sizes and prices and declare that one is a better value, but you have neglected to acknowledge that one of them was not offered merely as a world, but as part of an entire theme. Therefore, you cannot discount all of the items and gameplay that comes with it and cry that it's paltry because the world only gives 11 or 12 lots. The lots were only a piece of the whole game pack. If the region of StrangerVille was meant to be a stand-alone, focused map like the Sims 3 world, you would certainly have a point. But I'm sorry to tell you friend, you have to compare the entirety of the pack. Since you insisted on bringing the costs into this, if we're going to look at what we're getting for the money, then let's be honest about what's included. Furthermore, if you're also going to include sales costs and special deals, then we can also assume that somewhere down the line, StrangerVille will be reduced in price, because the Game Packs always end up on sale at some point. So the thrifty buyer can be sure to purchase the entire Game Pack, complete with it's 11 lots, mysterious apocalyptic adventure theme, new town, unique selection of build/buy, new career, aspiration, new trait, collection of CAS items, laptops and other gameplay objects, and entire interactive storyline with an immersive experience, not to mention the practicality that the world connects to other Sims 4 worlds, and everything but the story can be used with other parts of the game for replayability... all for the low price of $10 during the right sale. That sounds completely reasonable to me. But feel free to go ahead and enjoy your overpriced world that needs mods to run properly.
See, the thing about comparisons from someone who is openly biased is that they are always subjective. I did not like Sims 3. It was unplayable for me, and I'm not even referring to the performance. I still to this day think that its open worlds are way overrated and it sacrificed too much for that one thing. Sims 4 is better, but still needs some serious attention. That is my subjective opinion. See how that works? There is no right or wrong.
