Male sim wears female shoes to work

Is this old bug/glitch rearing it's ugly head again? My male sim wore purple, open-toed high heels with his gardening career outfit! I'll try the mentioned cheat to adjust this, but is there any way to prevent it from happening in the first place? (And no, I've never had any mods or CC...)

ETA: And no, he doesn't have the goofball trait, either...
