I recolor things all the time for my own use, so the lack of swatches doesn't bother me since there's a way to do it yourself with s4s.
BUT, we do need all stair railings to have a matching rail and for all fences to have a matching door.
AND CEILING TILES
I don't care about the ceilings (I always had trouble putting tiles on them in S3), but I do get annoyed when I can't match door frames to windows, gates to fences and railings to stairs. (Also, railings should have a match in gates - the gate around my porch should match the railings on the stairs to the porch.) And interior doors should have a match with arches - if I'm using light wood for all my interior doors and want to add an arch to separate the kitchen and dining rooms, the arch inevitably has no match to the doors I've used.
If we just had, say, eight basic swatches across all wood items, it would help. Even four (light, dark, white and black), and then whatever additional swatches the designers might want to add. (And what is it with the blue? I've done some houses in white with blue doors and windows, and it's quite nice, but then you go to the foundations and exterior embellishments and roof bevels, and instead of blue, you've got green. Why???)
