I actually wouldn’t mind some multiplayer functionality. I would still want the option to play in my own world, but it could be fun to collaborate on builds, have two players control sims in the neighbourhood simultaneously, or at least be able to visit your friends’ sims and so on. I would enjoy that. But it seems Sims players in general hate the idea so... I don’t think it’ll ever be a thing
I quite like how its done in Animal Crossing. You send a friend request and are able to have access to that friend's inventory which has items for sale. You can then purchase items you might need to complete a task. You don't even have to visit that friend's town unless you really want to.
I won't ever download those kind of games anyway anymore, never mind buy any if they have a price tag on them. I have been gaming for a very long time - and played many online full games in the last 25 or so years and all I get is annoyed. Many of them the online game was very different then the Single player campaign so you could not carry over what you had accomplished to a single player game as nothing at all was the same. I quickly tire of answering who I am, where I am from, how long have I been playing, and most of all - where do you find this or that armour or weapon sets? Constantly day in and day out. Don't even get me started on hackers... online multiplayer is just plain bad.
