EA Land did not require the subscription and was even free to play. It lasted 6 weeks. It was actually the best of the Sims online games and people did not like it. The most players Sims online had was 2000 - not acceptable at all by EA standards whose multi-players are in the millions.
Regardless - I don't care to play that kind of sims game. I tried all 4 - did not like them at all - never mind never seeing hardly anyone else moving around in the game. The sims online is nothing like the regular sims. Nothing at all.
There are many ways to do it and this can also be seen in the Sims games for mobile devices even though I know that you haven’t tried those games.
Online games are okay for me - but social online games aren’t. I mainly want to just play my own game.
I don't waste my time on dinky telephone games. I run a super computer -with a big wide screen - I thought gameboys were ridiculous as well- my kids had tons of those games, and their kids now like the mobile games- Not my thing at all. Oh and I have 20-20 vision so not a problem looking at them - I just see no point - never mind none of the kind of control I like. Heck I won't even use a laptop - if that tells you anything. I ran my desktop in a camper for two summers - and there were 2 laptops in the camper - brand new, even 1 gaming laptop - not interested. I like desktops I create myself with my components of choice. I am as choosy about the games I play. I don't want a game with the name Sims on it that does not offer what the Sims usually has. Online can just not do that.
I understand most of this because I never became interested in Gameboy games or games for consoles either. Beside that I was playing all my games on a stationary PC in many years until I bought an expensive gaming laptop with a big screen instead and that was a mistake. Laptops are not as good for gaming as stationary PCs are even though they can be used anyway though.
Consoles I avoid because they aren’t suited for the game types that I like. They are good if you want to play a game against another player in the same room though and likely also for other types of sports games and action games. But such games I don’t play.
But tablets are different. They are much more handy than other game devices and they offer quite many types of games. Just not the biggest PC games. But I don’t want to play all those big war games on a PC anymore anyway.
For the Sims games my problem isn’t if I have to play them on a PC or a tablet but that EA targets the Sims games way too much on very young new inexperienced simmers. This means that we have to be very lucky if the Sims games in the future should be worth playing for us too. Both the Sims Mobile and the Sims 4 are examples that show how disappointed we can become if we expect improvements of the earlier big Sims games.
