I dunno. IIRC mermaids can summon sharks to attack other sims in TS3. That's pretty metal to me. - I'm probably just rationalizing because mermaids mean nothing to me and big bodies of water make me think of drowning (I used to get scared when I was younger, playing the water level in Super Mario 64) but I'm not sure what all grounds there would be for an interesting mermaid life stage. It seems like it'd be pretty limited to having special powers inside of water, but apart from pools, that's pretty much the extent of water. And if they added a tropical water world, then you'd basically have to live in it to get proper use of mermaidness.
So I mean, it's possible, but you potentially run into the "what about when they're out of water 90% of the time" problem. They'd have to build a LOT of gameplay to fit around inhabitating water and most of the game would be inaccessible, or (even if they could survive outside of water) be vanilla for them, since their powers wouldn't have justification for working.
I think it'd make more sense to expand Plant Sims than put a lot of time into a Mermaid life stage. Unless it's just some passing fancy life stage. Certainly, I don't see room for Vampires level of depth to it, but maybe I'm just being close-minded. - Horrorgirl6Seasoned Veteran

. If they put them in its doesn't me you have to play with them.
True but knowing the Sims 4 the mermaids would end up knocking at your door, getting their own night at the bar or working at restaurants spawning multiple mermaid npcs giving you no option to have them or not.
I just ignore them , but I do wish we had a toggle. - DreamprisonerSeasoned NoviceI'd really love mermaids, with them and witches, I'd have all the supernatural I wanted.

I hate the aliens nights so much.....
I like having aliens in the game and alien abductions but those nights are the worst. They'll fill your save full of aliens. - For the most part, I'm not a fan of most of the popular dark supernaturals (vampires, werewolves, witches). But I guess the old Disney princess in me always had a soft spot for mermaids and fairies  .
So I wouldn't mind those two in moderate population of my game (sorta like how the plantsim worked. Heck I'd actually consider getting a pack with them for story purposes if their done right."kwanzaabot;c-16017602" wrote:

To be fair, the so called 'popular' ones I mentioned above make me vomit :p . So to be fair to both the dark simmers and the 'sweet' simmers, it would would further widen the audience ya know? That way "if we don't like one, we don't buy it" . "kwanzaabot;c-16017602" wrote:

mermaids are not sweet have you ever seen Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
and in peter pan they try to drowned wendey @kwanzaabot- LoanetRising ScoutThe treasure map is something you occasionally find when digging.
- Mermaids are awesome. And there's no issue with mermaids living outside of water. Mermaids can have legs on land and just turn into mermaids when they touch water. The TS3 mermaids needed to get into water sometimes which is fine, but they lived on land. It wouldn't be that different from the vampires not being able to go in sunlight. It would be cool if they had powers over water too like freezing, heating/steaming, moving water.
- If we're ever gonna get mermaid, I just hope they'd be better than in TS3. To be honest, I was a little disappointed by those mermaids. Still, I'm not sure if the icons are enough to make any speculations.
