I had a look at some Polynesian/Hawaiian names and found a few more suggestions for the merfolk of Sulani...
Female
Moanna/Moana – ocean or deep sea
Momi – pearl
Momilani - heavenly pearl, royal pearl
Leimomi - pearl child, wreath of pearls
Kala – virtue, princess, variant of Sarah
Millawa – peaceful ocean waves
Vaitiare – water flower
Malana/Malina - calming, soothing
Naia – to flow
Kaia – to rejoice, sea
Kailana/Kailani – sea and sky / heavenly seas
Kailea - joyful sea
Anela – angel
Hani – joyful
Noelani – heavenly mist
Leilani – a heavenly flower, royal child
Malia – bitter, Hawaiian variant of Mary. Another possible meaning is calm and peaceful (waters)
Ona – sweetness
Ulani – cheerful
Mahina – moon
Melelani - heavenly song
Lilinoe - goddess of haze
Waiola - water of life, also a variant of Viola, violet flower
Male
Kai – sea
Kaimana - powerful sea / power of the sea, diamond
Kaikea - white, clear sea
Kaikoa - ocean warrior
Kainalu – flowing ocean
Kaiholo – moving sea
Kaikane – strong/masculine sea
