Military Work From Home Assignment--Can't Search For Evidence

Question

So, I looked around for a bug report for this but no one else seems to be having the exact issue I have and I wanted to check and see if anyone had any insights before filing my own bug report.

I have not yet completed the mystery. I have two sims, both in the military, both clandestine investigators. I have them both work from home, and so far the tasks have been completing okay--except for finding evidence at the lab. I'll get that assignment, go to lab, and then literally can't click on any of the piles of evidence. Again, I have NOT completed the mystery, the evidence is there but when I hover my mouse over it it doesn't even register as something clickable. But I KNOW that's the evidence I need because--here's where it gets weird--my OTHER sim, the sim that DOESN'T have the search for evidence assignment today, who has some other assignment, CAN click on it and search. I've played several days, and in each case, the only one that CAN search for evidence is the one who DOESN'T have that assignment that day.

Thoughts? Anyone else experience this?

By necessity, there are some small spoilers here.Spoiler (Highlight to read)Does the Sim who can't search have the keycard?  I recently discovered that if a sim has the keycard, the piles of evidence won't activate (since their job is to provide the keycard.) Give the keycard to the other sim, or just take it out of inventory and let it sit on the floor (it should turn into a package-like object) while you search.Does the Sim who can't search have the keycard?
