I was really hoping that the Sims 4 for console would be a different game entirely, like how back when The Sims 2 was out on consoles they each had their own story modes. I'm very fond of The Sims 2 for PSP, it had lots of heart and great humor and a nice plot. Back then its graphical capabilities were on par with the PC and it was really fun being able to play the Sims on the go and control your Sims directly and not queuing tasks via point and click. Even the home console PS2/Xbox/GC versions had a story mode.
I'm not saying that The Sims 4 for consoles is necessarily bad, this is, after all, the first full port of the PC game made for consoles and I guess that's great! Although reviews suggest that there's much to be desired in the aspect of controlling the game; the way it's mapped out it's obviously a direct port of the PC game, mouse pointer and all. Wish they could've done something better for the UI on consoles.
Anyway, sorry about that segue. I can't be the only one who misses the console story modes, right? Would you like to see something like The Sims Castaway/The Sims Medieval/The Sims Stories made in The Sims 4 engine? Thanks for reading, good day to all!
I prefer it the way their doing it now. For years and thru Sims 2 and Sims 3 I always wanted an exact port of the pc version. With TS4 I got my wish. Only thing missing now is the gallery and that's being worked on.
Hope I don't sound rude but if you can play the game perfectly fine on your PC/Laptop, why would you want the same experience on the console?
As I said on another reply before, I guess I wouldn't really be complaining much about the port if the UI was better suited for a console experience but here you get a... mouse pointer. The Sims 3 for consoles were almost direct ports of the game (albeit some missing/added features and loading screens), although it had optimized controls and a better UI suited for controllers, you should look at some of the gameplay footage for it.
I can play the sims on my computer, but I don't like playing games on the computer. I find it so much more enjoyable on the console. I much prefer the comfort of the tv and couch over the computer desk and chair.
