0-0 news to me....I haven’t actually played the game since release till recently so that probably why..

Yeah, if you don't have that defender light, there's a chance for children to see monsters under the bed when they sleep. If they do, they'll go tell their parents, who can then 'spray' for them to help the kids feel better. :)

So sometime around June 2016.

Ah I see. The only time I had a family with kids was at release and since I came back i haven’t had a family with kids so that’s probably why I haven’t ever seen it then.

They can make friends with it, too. Then they get an energized "hello, old friend!" moodlet when they see the monster.

I've had monsters under the beds since I started playing the game in 2016.

But how do you befriend the monster under the bed? I am never successful in my attempts to communicate with it.

AFAIK, they just have to keep trying. The ones in my game eventually manage it, but I haven't noticed anything in particular that makes them finally succeed.
