moodlets! why aren't they going away?!

I started my game for the first time in 2 months and noticed the curved walls (not exactly as I hoped they would be but hey its a start) and then realised my sims had moodlets (fears and wants??) I went straight to gameplay to get rid of that - I never have moodlets on and it didnt matter they still stuck there!! any clues how to get rid of these unwanted intrusions into my game anyone please, thanks in advance :)
