- I currently have a sim in the Freelancer Programming, and she had been starting from scratch, not much money a tiny , basically studio, home on a bigger lot she can grow into, and she just got into a relationship with Caleb Vatore and he moved in. He is also a Freelancer Programmer ( tho I gave that to him hoping to make them money quicker and just change his job later if I want). But as for other types of jobs, I once had a sim that was a detective and she ended up marrying another detective, sometimes I thought they seemed a bit angry at one another after work, wonder what happened that I wasn't aware of lol.
- I've only have one household like that; two brothers, one a scientist and the other a detective. When I play them I usually just go with whoever I feel like in the moment. I realized that the scientist career is the only active career where you never have to follow the sim to work to get them to level 10 though, so I ignored the scientist for quite a while.
- Daephene17 years agoSeasoned AceI've been giving my couples one active or work from home career and the other a rabbit-hole career to avoid this question in my current save. If I have two work from home careers I try to do both at once. I might eventually own a business and have an active career in the same household, and I'll probably make the active career sim go to work without me about half the time and have the business open half the time.
- SimAlexandria7 years agoSeasoned AceI was actually planning on making a similar thread. I have a couple who are coworkers with my own backstory they met at work. They are scientists. They both go to work at the same time and when I work one or the other they have the same coworkers at the job so it's the same location, but they can't work together! I was hoping if I followed one, the other would be there because they are supposed to be there, it says the other is at work and I know he works at that location, but he's no where to be seen, vice versa when I work him I can't see the woman.
For now I alternate which one I follow to work but I really wish they could both be there at the same time even if I couldn't control them both.
Does anyone know of any mods for this? - I've never really thought about it before but I tend to have one sim do a work from home career and another sim with a rabbit hole career. I find it kinda hard for sims to keep on top of stuff otherwise without me getting stressed out, like walking the dog, keeping the house clean, gardening, looking after the kids, etc.
- In situations like that, I’ll usually just go with whoever I feel like in that moment. Otherwise, if I’m indifferent about it, I’ll go back and forth each day.
- I have an actor couple and two police couples.
For the actors I take care to keep Amber more famous than Jerry, but since we apply for gigs manually this is easy. Jerry's agency keeps complaining he should apply for gigs, but there doesn't seem to be a negative effect from not doing so. So far they haven't fired him.
Often Amber and Jerry do performances together in public, so they sort of are in the same movie after all (especially if I stream/film those performances).
The police couples are a little more difficult, because the game sometimes refused to send the remaining sim to work after I had agreed to accompany the first. But that hasn't happened for months now (fall last year, maybe).
Couple 1 I try to keep Gavin higher in the career than Tina, but at some time I'm going to lock them at their tier and then it won't matter anymore which one I actively play.
Couple 2 is interesting because Oumaima is the game-generated Chief of Police. I married her and moved her in and now all my police sims still get her as the Chief EXCEPT of course when I play herself or her husband.
I have two households filled with police co-workers and they reliably show up for my played police sims. Since this is consistent I do not mind that Hank/Oumaima and Gavin/Tina do not work together. - sobenewbie7 years agoSeasoned AceYes, I normally do only 1 active or work from home career per household. I just started using the freelance writer career, her husband is a doctor. It's working out well, I can stay home with her and let her write a book or do a freelance job on the days I don't feel the need or want to play the doctor.

Do you have more than one sim in professions like a doctor or an actor? Or even sims with a retail store or a restaurant? if so how do you balance which sim goes to work alone or which one you go with?
The acting one isn't too hard because I can just only pick gigs that fall on different days or skip one for a day. The doctor and detectives I alternate days starting with whichever one wins my coin toss. If one is close to a promotion (meaning they'll get one that day at work) I'll send them alone even if its their day and go with the other because the promo is eminent already.
