Moving sim to household issue

I have a household with 6 members and I am trying to move 1 sim into that household using the manage households button. I am being told my household is too big, that there is a max of 8. Somehow I had always thought 6 was less than 8, but perhaps there is an even newer math I am unaware of. FWIW, no sim is pregnant. Any idea what may cause this?
  • I do have mods, but have tried with no mods and deleted localthumbnaiulcache with same issue. I guess I will try repairing and see what happens. Thnks!
  • Oh I just remembered how you could get them to join but you WON’T get their household fund added to your funds.
Call the sim you want to your lot or wherever they can visit you.
    Enter the cheat ‘testingcheats true’
And hold shift + click on the sim you want and the option ‘add to household’ should appear. You’ll be able to control them but again they do not add any funds to your funds

  • Thanks SelinaKyles, that worked like a charm. I wasn't wanting to add funds anyway.
  • It may be time to repair your game. Something is amiss. :open_mouth: Do you use mods, by chance? If so, remove the Mods folder and delete the localthumbcache.package. Try again. If it works, then a mod is interfering with the game mechanics. To figure out which one can be a nightmare. I would create a new Mods folder and one at a time, while the game is off, place a mod into the new empty Mods folder. Turn your game back on and attempt to add another Sim to your household. If it works, then you know that mod is okay. If it doesn't then you have a clue as to which mod was interfering. Add the rest of your mods back in one at a time, always deleting that localthumbcache.package each time.
Keep at it until you find the mod or mods that are interfering.

    Best of luck!
  • OK, repairing game did not fix the problem, so I guess I am at a standstill.

It's time for a game folder refresh. While your game is OFF. In your documents folder, rename the Sims 4 folder. It's as easy as adding .Old to it. Then restart your game. Exit and replace the Tray, saves and Mods folder with the ones from your "old" folder. Then delete the localthumbcache.package and start your game. Your saved games will all be there. Pick the one you wanted to add a Sim to and see if the problem isn't resolved. Other than that you may have to seek help from EA.
