Moving with rodents

My current main sim is living in an apartment with his pet rat, Connor. He'll soon be able to afford a better place and now I wonder how I should go about moving with Connor. If I tick "keep furniture", will the cage with rat go into the household inventory and will he be alright afterwards? Alright = alive and with the relationship bar and name intact.
Or is it better to release Connor into the wild now and re-buy him in the new home?

I'm asking because in Sims 2, when you put a parrot cage into your inventory, the parrot dies.
  • I haven't tried moving with a rodent, so if it were me, I'd save first, put the rodent in whichever inventory it goes in (sim's inventory if possible; family inventory if not), & move. I hate keeping furniture 'cuz family inventory is more painful for me to use than the usual build/buy, & I avoid it when possible.

If that doesn't work out well, then I'd exit w/o saving, & try again another way!

    Good luck!
  • You don't need to tick "keep furniture" to carry along the stuff in your inventory, only for the stuff in your house.

Sims 4 doesn't work like Sims 2, so your pet should be okay. Even babies can go in the inventory, haha.
