I've been renovating my Sim self's family home over the past few days and i have a question i want to ask you. I want to turn the laundry room & bathroom area in to a fourth bedroom and put the current bathroom and laundry room under the house. However to access the space under the house there is a staircase leading down to it on the other side of the house. It would be OK in the summer I guess, but not in the rain or freezing temperatures. Poor sims ?

I feel like outdoor-only basement access makes sense for a basement you're going to use as storage, not a basement that's part of the living space.I'd probably put a 1-tile-wide staircase down to the basement either in the hallway (using 1 of the 2 tiles of hallway width) or running down the length of the current laundry room and bathroom, making the new bedroom a little more narrow. I think I would leave the bathroom and put the new bedroom down there or make the new bedroom quite tiny and use the extra space inside to place L-shaped or other-shaped stairs.

Do you mean using the back stairs which go outside? If so, I cannot stand sending sims outdoors to access a different area of the house.

Here are the steps to get under the house which are on the side of the house so they would have to climb those to get to this part of the house.

I did try placing the stairs in the basement from inside the house but the stairs appeared twice as long from entering inside.

Well, if you don't mind it then go for it! It's just my personal preference, not sending them outside. I'd probably have to build an extra section on the side to cover the stairs if it was me.

The lower level is actually foundation with the texture from the upper level saved as a foundation texture which i'm still tweaking with.
