My plants disappear after being fertilized

I have a garden in my basement so the plants bloom year round. If the plant is fully grown, though, it disappears after my Sim fertilizes it. It goes back to just being a freshly-planted patch of dirt. The quality doesn't change but the plant itself disappears. I don't have mods but I do have CC. Any ideas?
