Not sure how you can get rid of the dazed effect but there are a few ways to get breakthroughs for future reference. Taking a thoughtful shower, using the observatory and playing chess are a few ways. Using the robot inventor brainstorm interaction and the analyser as well help. When they need breakthroughs look for interactions with a lightbulb next to them.
