My toddler is sick!

Try transferring medicine to the toddler's inventory by dragging it from the mother's inventory to the toddler or toddler's icon in skewer. Once it's in their inventory see if they have an option to use it.
If they can't take medicine then try drinks, naps and baths (this last for itchy/feverish symptoms).
Keep in mind that child sims with visible symptoms like headaches or dizzy spells can't actually take medicine unless they have a moodlet saying they are sick. Adults can drink it any time, but it leaves them Dazed if they don't have the moodlet.
