Okay I’m currently playing sims (shocking) and I’ve noticed that I have the same bug that the simguru had when she tried to cut the cake with the groom.
So I’m guessing it’s a bug in game that’s not even related to the pack maybe. Maybe it came with the recent sim update ??♀️. Anyway I’m still getting the pack I’m super excited.
Hmm. I'll have to test that out in my own game to see if that bug also exists for me. I've never used the "cut the cake" interaction before. Hopefully the devs are aware of this possible base game bug and fixes it before the pack releases.
It happened for me when I was trying to walk a trail. I clicked to walk one of the trails and my sim wouldn't do it. The action kept disappearing just like when the simguru was trying to cut the cake and the action kept disappearing. - crocobaura3 years agoLegend

The cut the cake animation in the trailer is a new animation. Also, the cake is like 3 times bigger than the gourmet two-tiered cake.

I have been thinking about the size of the new cake because it does appear to be bigger than the regular cake and I am wondering if it will fit properly in the bakery display shelves. - crocobaura3 years agoLegend

@crocobaura I was planning on remodeling my Bakery and putting them in the middle on those white tables they showed in the livestream.
I've been playing with my Sim who owns a bakery. My plan is to have everyone visit her to see different types of cakes. I don't mind the new cake testing place in the game because it will be nice to visit there every once in a while; It is kind of like when one is out with friends, kids, on a date, etc.--"Hey mommy, can we go get some cake today."
Yet, I do plan to use my bakery for Sims to come there to actually see the cakes and taste them. You can invite Sims to come to the bakery if you own it and they will eat the cake/food items not for sale.

I know we can put them on tables, but when you see a cake out on display like that in the bakery it's a fake cake. Oh, well, I'll just put them in the window, so it looks inviting from outside. - JaggidEdje3 years agoSeasoned AceThe refrigerated open front cases definitely have room even for the larger cakes as well. That's where I have made room in my in-game grocery store that sells pre-made food and bakery items on the 2nd floor.

I have actual wedding ceremonies for any Sim that I'm playing once they get to that point in their relationship which takes time. Everything has always worked fine for what little animations they do have for the existing wedding in the game; the only issue I had was with them sitting and watching the wedding; usually there was always one person standing somewhere watching the wedding.
I make sure everyone is in the same room before I cut the cake. After selecting cutting the cake, only one Sim will take a piece of the cake then everyone sings, cheers, throws confetti or blows a horn. The Sim then feeds the cake to the other person; then everyone will take a piece of cake or food and sit down and eat.SpoilerAlthough adorable, everyone knows how slow toddlers walk. I had to wait for the toddlers to come into the room before I cut the cake. ?

There is not selection for a Toddler to attend the ceremony. If I'm having Toddlers at a wedding, I always switch them into the wedding household so that I can control sitting them down. Hopefully with the new feature to be seated being added, the toddlers will actually attend the wedding.

I've always found the key to any successful event in the game is to make sure everyone is in the same room and/or in their sets. Also, no one ever arrives on time and/or at the same time. So, it is a good thing the time limit is being removed within the new game pack.
I'm so happy the pack is being released this week. When they announced Cottage Living, that was a very long wait. I personally prefer the announcement and release date for this game pack's schedule.
Lovely! Your wedding looks great, @Hearts4u ! ?? So cute with the toddlers sitting in the front, too!
Do you form groups or clubs for the guests? - JaggidEdje3 years agoSeasoned Ace

Yeah, but the new wedding cakes really don't look like will fit. I'm happy the new cakes are ginormous. The bigger the better. At least it looks like a proper wedding cake. These new cakes are going to be perfect for all kinds of parties and events.
You think so? I really felt like they look like they would fit.
The slot spacing is way, way too big for the existing game cakes, even the tiered ones. Right now I always go into build mode and use the ] key to scale cakes and pies up by one size in my retail store because of that. I was actually looking forward to some cakes that properly fill the space. - LatinaBunny3 years agoSeasoned AceAnd now we play the waiting game, hehe.
I really should look up some grocery/bakery hybrid stuff on gallery/exchange. - JaggidEdje3 years agoSeasoned AceYou know, I just realized after posting my last reply. Guys, you can shrink the cakes down to fit them into any retail display that you want. I already make produce and cakes bigger, but making them smaller is an option too.

Thank you @LatinaBunny
No, I don't form clubs when I'm doing my wedding. I've practiced using several different methods (including testing the layout) to see what works best and this is what I've been doing for weddings.
I always transfer Sims between their household to my household before the wedding event. Then I travel to the venue (typically, Myshuno Meadows in San Myshuno) with 7 other Sims (family/friends) who are not in my household. I will then bring all the other Sims in my household to the lot. While at the venue, I then click plan a social event. I then use the Actions to form a group--one under the bride and another under the groom. I will sit the toddlers next to each other and have them talk so that they do not move during the wedding ceremony. Using the group, I can click sit together and everyone will sit.
I enjoy seeing Sims take different food items, so I always prepare 4 of each food item before the event. I don't have a bartender because I like seeing Sims take fruit punch from the Fountain; they will take punch and talk to each other which is nice to watch them being social and happy.
I use these functions a lot for events, parties, and weddings. Much easier to move Sims around.

I went into more details for those who do not plan events or weddings often and for new Simmers or those who haven't played in a long time. :)
Ah, thank you so much for the tips, @Hearts4u ! ??
I forget we can add other folks to the list in our travel option.
Yes, the Grouping and Together Actions are great! I use those often when I want a group to stay together.
When you said, “I always transfer Sims between their household to my household before the wedding event”, so you mean you moved some sims into the household, or did you invite them over by phone? - friendsfan3673 years agoSeasoned Newcomerso excited . i decied to age my sim kids to teens so they can try and find mates before relase day. once one of them took 52 real hours. to chose well actually i think the guy picked him. thats what my sim was afraid of . telling me he didn't like girls. its been 4 05 yrs since i started playing this family. i went from cute /funny. me to funny dramaticto the extreme. them. but as long as their happy i am so his orientation didn't matter to me i was more scared i would write it wrong. sorry worked again today.
