I think I suffer from N.S.P.S. which is Nonexistent Stuff Pack Syndrome. I've had it since the Sims 2 days. To this day, I have not bought any SPs because I don't feel a need to buy a pack just for CAS and buy mode items. I much prefer new life states and new features and new worlds.
For some reason I feel like that's the reason they decided to add game play objects to SPs now (besides replacing TS3 Store), so that people would have to buy these packs in order to create something that CC creators can't do. Because the stuff packs were pretty much just reskins.
I suggested these kind of packs back in 2011:

They do have more value now and will be more difficult to give a pass, unless the game play is totally useless to you.
Interesting thread from way back :) and looks like your vision for stuff packs has more or less come to life. And I'll admit I do like them - I'm a bit of a magpie so I enjoy filling my sims' homes with clutter, and I'm always a sucker for new CAS. And they are so much better value than the TS3 store sets... :o However... I'm so desperate for something that will change the way I play the game, or the way the game looks/behaves (weather, seasons, for the love of Mike please!), in a fundamental way... like additional life stages or being able to send our sims away to uni. I feel like I'm in a perpetual state of anticipation... :D
