So I started a new save couple weeks ago. I am REALLY into this save, mainly because of the quarantine I started from scratch, new game file, new family and new ideas so I'm having some fun. My sim family started with a tiny 3 bedroom starter home with 5 people and have saved up money to add on to the house. I added a bedroom and bathroom downstairs but the family is continuing to grow so I added a second floor considering the family had made enough money for renovation. Well, I hate the house now because let's face it, I a horrible builder. I can add a bedroom here and there but to add a second floor, the outside aesthetic of the house is absolutely awful. I didn't want the family to move into a new house because the mother has a magnificent garden which brings in most of the money, so I didn't want to lose the garden. Is there any way if I demolished the house completely and download a new house to the lot but saved the garden? sorry for the very long drawn out question but, hey, I have plenty of time on my hands these days. haha.

Maybe you could buy another lot and have two lots temporarily? Or even keep the original lot as a garden lot, and have the other lot as the living space for the family. It'll cost money though... Maybe take apart your current house for some cash?

@aaronrulz Maybe build a wall around the garden and use the "save room" tool to temporarily save it to the Gallery, bulldoze the lot, download a new house, download the garden from the gallery, and take down the walls?Let me know if that's possible! I hope it all works out :)

What if you build a wall around the garden & save it as a room? You might want to enter the bb.moveobjects on first. Hence, you can add it later on as a room to your new lot. I would advice if you could save the game perhaps v.2 before you demolished the house, just in case it doesn't work.

Maybe you could buy another lot and have two lots temporarily? Or even keep the original lot as a garden lot, and have the other lot as the living space for the family. It'll cost money though... Maybe take apart your current house for some cash?

Sims can't buy two residential lots...and I have no use for a retail lot at the moment

All gardening plants can be put into the household inventory. That should do the trick.

Saving the room also works.

I know the feeling of not separating from the garden especially when it brings in the money for a big family. How did you go? I had a garden for spell-caster that had all the hard to find things in it and i accidentally forgot about it and bulldozed the lot to bring a house from the gallery. I was a little heart broken.

As bienchen said, just move them to the household inventory while you move or rebuild the house. Make you sure you harvest them before you move them in the household inventory, or else you'll have to sell all the harvest from there (which is super annoying).

Drawing a room around the garden may not work very well, as the game has a tendency to move or delete things if you draw a room around them. It would be safer to build a separate room and then move all the plants into it. You also need medium or high walls if you have trees. They'll just disappear with short walls.
In your case though, disappearing probably means they'll get moved to the household inventory.

Thanks all!! The room thing can work in theory but since the house is on a foundation when I tried to make a room out of the garden, the plants would disappear. So putting them in the inventory works though! Thank you all for your suggestions and advice. I have dabbled with gardens in the Sims 4 in the past but this is the first time I have really played it out. I have a sim in the Flower Arrangement career and has almost every flower, herb, veggie, and fruit in her garden. She's at a 10 gardening skill. It's so much fun and had no idea how lucrative it can be!

One question while I'm here I have one more question. She spliced and grafted to make the birds of paradise but that plant never seems to harvest birds of paradise...just the two flowers I spliced together (forgot what they are at the moment) Is there usually a long wait?

@aaronrulz Although my method didn't work, I'm glad you worked it out! Did you know you can sell the flowers outside of having a job as well by dropping them into the "sell" bin in the inventory?
My sim is not much of a gardner herself, though, so I don't know about the birds of paradise plant.
