I have been playing the Sims since the 1st day it came out. However, I play a completely vanilla game and have always done so. The only cheat I use is Motherlode. Now when I download a lot that I like from the Gallery, it always tells me that Moo was used. I don't quite understand how that works when put into my game. Is Moo on when I place the lot and I have to turn it off or is it already off and I don't have to do anything? In placing some lots I have had problems when playing that lot but in some other lots I don't have any problems. Are the problems that I have just the game in general or is it because Moo was used when making that lot? I have stopped downloading from the Gallery all together because of this. I don't usually get all the bugs that everyone else seems to get when playing the game but have noticed problems when I download from the Gallery. Is there a way to tell before hand who has used Moo in their building or is it that everyone that builds now uses Moo. It seems every download I use now comes with the warning that Moo has been used. Any way I love some of the builds and would like to know how to download them into my games. I guess what I really want to know is what to do when I do download...turn it off or leave it alone. Help is appreciated.

If you use CTRL and ALT when placing items it will tag the lot as having used MOO even though it was never used in the build. I just ignore that when it shows for my lot because I built it and I know it wasn't used.

Your best bet is to always turn on MOO right before placing down a lot from the gallery (if you want the lot to look exactly the same as it did in the gallery pics) and then turning it back off after the lot has been plunked down (if you don't want MOO on anymore). If you don't have MOO turned on before placing a lot, any objects that MOO was used on will automatically snap over to the nearest grid (or delete it completely) when the game is placing it onto the lot, which of course, changes the way the lot looks. Sometimes that changed look is drastic (tons of stuff had MOO), and sometimes the change isn't even noticeable (MOO was only used on a couple of things). But it's not really that big of a deal if you have MOO turned off when you place a lot. It will only effect the objects that MOO was used on. All you have to do after the lot is placed down is go have a look and see if anything looks weird or wonky, and move those things around to your liking or get rid of them altogether.If a gallery build is giving you routing problems, then you have two choices: 1) Rearrange things on the lot until the routing problem is fixed (this could take two minutes or two hours).2) Bulldoze the lot and download something else.In a nutshell... Having MOO on or off isn't going to ruin/corrupt your game in any way. And having MOO on or off when placing a gallery build also isn't going to ruin/corrupt your game in any way. The MOO situation only effects the build lot itself, the rest of your game stays exactly the same.

I did not know that! So thanks for that little head's up. More than likely that's what caused the game to scream the "MOO-Was-Used" error to me when I saved my lot, that I KNOW MOO was not on, because I do use Alt to move stuff.

MOO is always default on now when placing a lot from the gallery. They did this so lots will still work in case the creator forgets to put in notes to turn on or the downloader forgets to enter it. I love that they added that feature so I no longer have to worry about it either way. :)

When did that happen? I don't remember any patch/update saying they made that change? Mind you, it's been ages since the last time I downloaded anything from the gallery, plus I use a mod that keeps MOO on all the time, so it's not something I've ever paid much attention to.

Either way, that's awesome if they did... so people no longer have to turn MOO on and off?

July 20th, 2021 patch prior Cottage Living. But there was apparently a little mistake in the patch notes so it was cleared in the next patch notes July 27th.
